9/11 Photo Review

LINES

The reason I labeled this photograph
under the composition of lines is because
as you can see, the photographer obviously
didn't plan the lines to contrast with the
falling man, but that is how it ended up.
The effect of the lines in this image really
set the look of the photo rather than against
some other designed building.

SIMPLICTY

This photo is an example of simplicity
because the photographer most likely chose
to zoom in on just the top of the building that
was burning rather than getting the rest of the
building or whole rest of the city in chaos. If
they had done that, then it would have taken
the focus away from the building on fire.

RULE OF THIRD

In this photo you can see the figure of a person standing
among the rubbish left behind from the horrific event of 9/11.
The photographer chose not to put the person in the direct
middle of the photo because they were not trying to make the
photo be focused on the person and on the whole scene as one.

FRAMING

I really enjoy this photo because the angle the photographer
took this photo makes it look like a picture in a frame.
The photographer could have easily stuck his camera out the
broken window, but wanted to add more effect to the photo.

BALANCE

The photographer didn't mean for this photo to be balanced
out, but it just happened to be. There is two people on either side
of the man, both of them being women, and they are both wearing
a similar color. This is just a coincidence but balance is used in many
photos to create contrast and homeostasis.

AVOID MERGERS

Now the point of avoiding mergers is to make
it look like nothing is odd shaped or looking like
a creature not meant to be on this planet. Now i have a
feeling that the photographer of this photo
kept that in mine when shooting this shot.
If the photographer had just slid over a tiny bit to the
left, it might have looked like the flag pole was coming out
of the mans head. The photographer made sure it didn't look like that.
